Resident Advisor Appreciation Week!

Did you remember to appreciate your RA this week? Chances are, you were probably too busy reading textbooks, studying for exams, going to class, and heading to bed early to remember to do such a thing! But don't worry - we understand! With only ONE DAY left, we thought it might be helpful if we compiled a list of things you could do to express your appreciation for your RA:

10) Obey quiet hours, if only for once in your life. Instead of partying hardy this Thursday evening, consider keeping your voice level down a few notches - you may even simultaneously earn the respect of your floormates while doing this!

9) Write a cute message on your RA's white board. (As opposed to an insult, inappropriate comment, or anatomically correct drawing.) A "Thanks for all you do!" will be sure to suffice!

8) Clean up the lounge at the end of the night! Your empty food containers, random articles of clothing, video game systems, pillows, and blankets reflect poorly on the entire floor. Do your part and establish a good reputation amongst the entire building. Believe it or not, it makes US look bad too.

7) Slip a nice note under our door! Most of us have spare pieces of paper in case you need to ask us an emergency question while we're not there. A simple "I love you more than life itself!" is sure to put a smile on even the most stressed out RA's face.

6) Smile at us as we pass each other in the hallway, lobby, dining hall, Schine, quad, et cetera. For the love of Pete (di Jianne?), acknowledge our existance! We made it our mission in the beginning of the year to get to know each and every one of you, so the least you could do it humor us and boost our egos slightly.

5) DON'T tear down our bulletin boards, use Sharpie on our Question of the Month signs, or vandalize the floor in any other way. Do you know how many hours we spend putting up those bulletin boards? Do you realize how many staples we end up sending through our finger tips? Or how frustrating it is when you can't find enough of those scalloped-edged borders to go around the edge? It's rough! Most of us pull all-nighters every single time we have to re-do them. Please, respect them, and respect our hard work.

4) Make us a sign and tape it on our door! You know we do it when it's YOUR birthday - why not return the favor and have everyone on the floor sign it?

3) Hang out with us when we're bored. You see us in the lounge doing homework, or chilling in our room with our door open... That's our passive-aggressive way of saying "Spend time with me!" Maybe that's not the case for everyone, but it's always nice to interact with you and have meaningful conversations beyond, "When's the floor meeting?"

2) Come to our floor activities, building-wide events, floor meals, and floor meetings... if only to make us feel good about ourselves. We put so much time, energy, effort, and creativity into planning fun things for you to attend and when no one shows up it really puts a damper on our spirits! We do it for you! The least you could do is attend long enough to grab some food or to just say hi.

1) Learn our names! Do you even know who we are?

That should do it!

So please, APPRECIATE YOUR RESIDENT ADVISOR!

First of all, a big shout out to our MDA, Amy for counting the money from the Lawrinson Penny Wars!

Here are the results:

Floors 3 and 4 raised $10.48 with a total of -722 points
Floors 5 and 6 raised $3.56 with a total of -234 points
Floors 7 and 8 raised $11.41 with a total of -239 points
Floors 9 and 10 raised $17.35 with a total of -725 ponts
Floors 12 and 17 raised $8.18 with a total of -282 points
Floors 11 and 16 raised $14.51 with a total of -490 points
Floors 13 and 18 raised $16.23 with a total of -457 points
Floors 14 and 15 raised $30.37 with a total of -1703 points
Floors 19 and 20 raised $7.13 with a total of -37 points (WINNER)

Thank you to all of you who participated. We raised $119.22 from Penny Wars. Added to our talent show and candy grams, our hall raised $371.72 to donate to Haiti. Great Job Everyone! Thank you for all your contributions.

Relay for Life

Relay for Life is a great event that is held each year in the Carrier Dome to raise money for the American Cancer Society. This year's Relay will take place on April 10th at 6pm-April 11th at 6am.
There will be music, dancing, games and more!

To join the Relay team for Lawrinson Hall, go to http://www.syracuserelay.org/. Click the "Sign Up" tab at the top of the page then click the tab that says "Join a Team". Lawrinson Hall is under the team name of Area A with Paul Czuprynski as the captain. To join this team simply search for Area A in team name and click the "join" button.

Syracuse Relay also encourages students to form their own teams. To do this, go to the website and follow the steps. It is quick and easy and only costs $10.

The theme for his year's Relay for Life is Truth and Dare and it's going to be a ton of fun.

If you have any questions about Relay, feel free to ask your RA, ARD or RD about the event.

On behalf of Lawrinson Hall, the Power Tower, let's make this year's Relay the best yet. So Join!

Haiti Relief Efforts

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for all of your help with raising money for Haiti!

We were able to sell 101 bracelts and raised $115.00. Thank you to all your kind donations.

In addition, we raised $137.50 through our Lawrinson Talent Show this past Friday.

So far we've raised $252.50 so lets see how much more we can contribute through Penny Wars, which is happening all of February. Please go down to the main desk if you have any questions. Again, all proceeds are going to relief efforts in Haiti.

Dear Residents,

Do you consider yourself to be one of the top leaders in the residence halls? Have you thought about recognizing yourself and others for all the great things that have been done in the halls? If you think you have what it takes to be recognized as one of the top student leaders you should consider joining NRHH.

The National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) recognizes the top 1% of student leaders in the residence halls. Our focus lies on recognition, programming, and community service. The best part is that the only requirements that we have for applying are that you have served your campus community for at least one semester so if you're a freshman you're all set) and that you maintain a level of academic success (2.5 Grade Point Average).

Applications will be available next week. Just fill it out, get one letter of recommendation, and hand it in, and you're all set, you've applied. If you want more information about NRHH, ask your RA or come to our informational meeting on:

Hello Lawrinson Residents,

Below includes a lot of information. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Learning Communities:

First of all, there are two learning communities and a theme floor that will be in Lawrinson Hall next year. The LIFE theme floor will remain on the 20th floor, the Multicultural Living and Learning Community (MLLC) will be on the 19th floor, and the LGBT Learning community will be on the 18th floor. If you are interested in living in these communities, please be sure to visit: http://lc.syr.edu/content/currentsign.aspx The LC application deadline is by 11:59PM on February 17th.
Events happening in Lawrinson Hall to help Haiti:

• The Multicultural Living and Learning Community (MLLC) is sponsoring pick-up locations in Sadler and Lawrinson in support of SU’s Haiti Support Clothing Drive. SU is also working in coordination with Mohawk Global Logistics (MGL), a locally-based international cargo company that is owned by SU alums. The Clothing Drive will take place at designated locations across campus from Friday, February 12 to Friday, February 26, 2010. On Saturday, February, 27, MGL will pick up the donated items. This drive will be for 4 categories of items: 1) Blankets & Bedding; 2) Men’s Women’s and Infants’ Clothing; 3) Footwear; and 4) Hats, Caps & Scarves.

• RAs are selling Haiti bracelets for $1.00. Please seek your RA or another RA in our building if you have any questions.

• We have the Lawrinson Talent Show this Friday at 7pm in the Lawrinson Penthouse. The admission is $3.00. You may still sign up to perform at the main desk until Tuesday at 5pm. There are some really talented performers so come and show your support.

• We are doing Penny Wars the entire month of February. Place your pennies in your floors jars. You can sabotage other floors by putting in other change or dollar bills. The instructions are at the main desk. In March, we’ll inform you all of which floors scored the most points.

Other events in the hall:

• You may be asking yourself, what is the Body Modification project? I am collecting photos of people who live/work in Lawrinson that have modified themselves in one way or another (tattoos, piercings, hair, etc.) and printing them to display at the main desk. If you’d like to contribute to this project, please send a photo to churabe@syr.edu. Be on the lookout for other Body Modification projects this month including Henna Artwork in the Hall, a presentation by Scarab Body Arts, and more.

• I am doing a program called D.I.Y which stands for Do It Yourself this Wednesday at 7pm on the second floor lounge. We’ll be doing things like making fun magnets for your rooms. Stop by. It will be fun.

Community Council:

If you’d like to be part of Community Council, they meet Thursdays at 8pm in the Lawrinson Penthouse. It’s a great leadership experience, you plan events for our hall and the community, and you meet a lot of great people. Definitely check it out.

Getting Personal with The Lawrinson RA's

Hey parents, students, residents and professional procrastinators!

So for the month of February, we thought that we'd mix things up a bit and talk about those under appreciated and overly awesome RA's of Lawrinson Hall. Sort of a get to know you ice breaker. For the last question, we took a page from the popular radio show "This American Life" on NPR. On one memorable episode, they looked at superpowers and posed the questions "What would you rather have, flight or invisibility?". It turns out that this answer might tell us something deep about ourselves. People who choose flight are supposed to be more open and confident, having nothing to hide. They tend to be more proud and irresponsible though. People who choose invisibility are more sneaky and introverted, but they tend to be more modest and kinder. Without knowing this little analysis, this is how the Lawrinson RA's answered.

    Welcome back all for this Spring 10 semester. The spring is deffinitely an exciting time as we all face new classes and professors, decisions on what to do for spring break and summer, and wait and wonder when the snow will start melting/how much longer will be able to ski, snowboard, and sled (i didn't add snowball fight because I don't think we've had good snow for that yet!)

   As you get settled back into your room, catch up with friends, and spend all your money on the new books you might be wondering what this semester will bring. Tyring to list the most important things comming up:

It's convenient to start planning where and who you'd like to live with next year.
Ernie Davis Hall has revolutionized everything. The new gym, dining hall and bookstore are very convenient for people living in Booth, Dellplain, and Watson. More people will be willing to live in these halls now that the walk to get food isn't so terrible! While it will probably get easy to live in one of those nice 4 person suites in Haven Hall, even though you will have to suffer a little more to go get your food.
As far as renovations go. Lawrinson Hall is scheduled to renovate floors 9 through 15!   This will give a lot more people the opportunity to enjoy the individual showers and big screens in the lounges. The floors available will be 3-8 for coed BY floors, 9-17 for renovated coed floors, and then 18 will be the LBTA living community, 19 the multicultural living floor, and 20 the Life floor.
Any room up on mount Olympus will be surrounded by the new freshman, so consider that before you select your room!

-Spring Break will be from March 13th (saturday) to March 21st (sunday). Many options are available, you just have to look around and find what you want to do!

Our meetings for the semester will be held from 8-9 on Thursdays. I know some people may not be able to make it, if this applies to you, please make sure you stay up to date with what’s going on.

During the meeting we had representatives from BBB come and talk about their casino night. Kyle, Nate, and myself will be going to an information Sunday so we can better understand their plan and ultimately make a decision as to whether we are going to participate.

The activity we did was something small just to get everyone’s opinions. The questions asked were

Meet Johna, our new RA!

Johna is the newest RA to join our staff. She's on floor 16 and has really enjoyed her last month as an RA and is looking forward to next semester. We talked to her to get to know her a little better.
Tell us about yourself.
I am a sophomore music education major from Pleasantville, NY (about 4 hours away). On campus I am involved in the Mandarins, an all-female a capella group; the Hendrick's Chapel Choir and First Year Players.
Why did you want to become an RA?
I really like meeting new people.
What has been the most interesting part of the transition so far?
It wasn't too much of a change from being a student living in a residence hall, although I definitely have a lot more responsibility now. I've really liked how helpful everyone has been in getting me used to the position and the building.
What has been the most rewarding part of being an RA so far?
It felt really great to be welcomed so warmly by all my residents onto the floor.
How do you feel about being placed in Lawrinson?
I have quite a few friends that live in the building, so I was really happy to be placed here!

NEED A RIDE BACK TO CAMPUS FROM WINTER BREAK????

There is no shuttle to the airport or bus station. SA is also not doing the regional buses as in the past.

Here are the times for the winter break shuttle when students return:

1/17: 2PM-11PM

1/18: 10AM-11PM

The bus will be picking students up at 15 minutes past the hour from the RTC and 30 minutes past the hour from the airport. The bus will be arriving at Schine on the hour. An email blast will be released to the students from OSA the first week of January to notify students of the availability of these transportation options.

December 8, 2009 Community Council Meeting

To everyone who helped out with the party on Friday, Cara as well as the E-Board want to say thanks for all of your help.

Candy Grahams- Thanks for everyone who has shown up for the shifts they have signed up for. For those who still have to table, please be sure to actively selling the candy grahams, we need as much money as possible. Also, anyone can donate any amount of money without buying any candy grahams.

Lighting of Lawrinson- To prepare for the party, we need to get permission from the 004- 009 rooms. Everyone is going to be responsible for going to a floor to gain permission for us (an E-board member and an RA) to go into their room to either open or close their blinds. The winning decoration for the building was the snowman. During the unveiling of the lit up snowman, we will have peanut butter and jelly for everyone. Please remember to go around to the floors you are assigned to. You need to return the signed contracts to the front desk and remember to give the reminder card to the resident.

Next Meeting- Your will receive an email in January with more information about the next meeting. Our next meeting is tentatively January 24^th at 4pm in the Penthouse. Please bring your class schedule to the meeting so we can plan our meetings for next semester.

12/1 Community Council Minutes

Just Desserts: On Wednesday December 9^th, RHA will be holding an event called Just Desserts in Schine Underground. Anyone in the Council is invited to attend. If you plan on attending, please let Cara know. Please do not sign up if you are unable to attend, we don’t want to waste RHA’s money.

SU Gets Real: As many of you know, we will be participating in Orange Angels. In order to raise money for Orange Angels, we were planning on selling candy grahams. SU Gets Real takes our candy graham selling and adds a contest to it. As a council, we’re going to create a marketing plan for the selling. The plan does not have to be implemented, only created. We are changing the style of tabling, instead of doing one two-hour shift; everyone is responsible for doing two one-hour shifts. Please remember to sign up for a shift.

Lighting of Lawrinson: On Sunday December 13^th, we will be having an event for the hall called Lighting of Lawrinson. On the side of the building facing Hendricks Field, we will have a holiday decoration created using lights in certain rooms. Cara will be sending out emails to people on that side of the building whose rooms will be needed. The residents will be required to sign a contract allowing Cara or an RA and a member of the council to go into their room and either shut their blind or put up a colored sheet of paper. We will also be having a party after the lighting to give the residents a break from studying.

Holiday Festivus: Our party for the Delaware Academy will still be occurring on Friday December 4^th. Set up will be from 1-2, the party will be from 2-3:30, and clean up will be from 3:30-5. If you have already signed up, you will be receiving an email. If you have not signed up and can do so, please do.

Registration Relief: Roadmap to The Perfect Semester

It's that time of year again. Everybody is stressed out, not just by all of the exams that haven't been studied for and the projects that are overdue. To add on to the stress of this semester, everyone's figuring out their future too...i.e. classes for next semester.

So, it's time to get on the ball. A lot of people are going to be disappointed because they missed getting into that one class that would have made their dream semester just right. DON'T BE THAT PERSON!! You just have to plan ahead. Here are some tips to make sure you get as many of those dream classes as possible. But, freshmen - don't get your hopes too high.

1) Meet with your advisor - BEFORE your registration date. If you still have a hold when it's time to register, you'll be out of luck until at least 24 hours after your advising meeting and courses go fast.
       - Log onto MySlice and check your Hold Status (front and center on the main page)

2) Know the 1st date AND time of your enrollment period - every second counts! If you have class when it starts, bring your laptop, you don't want to miss out!
       - Under the Enrollment tab, select "View My Enrollment Dates"

3) Use the Myslice Tools - Now you can select your classes and put your options in your shopping cart before your enrollment period so that all you have to do when your time comes is click two or three buttons and be done. The process can take 30 seconds instead of 30 minutes.
        - Can't figure them out? Ask a friend and play around with the options.

4) Have Fun!! - If you're not in a death major, you'll have at least 3 credits that you can put towards something interesting next semester. Take the time to explore your options . Find fun courses to fulfill those Liberal Arts requirements, so the papers won't be as tedious. Talk to your friends and those that have gone before you - they've got insight into the easy classes that make your GPA look good.

HPM 200: Introduction to Culinary Arts

CFS 388: Human Sexuality (mixed reviews: make sure you check w/ your friends)

DTS 228 - Basic Ballroom Dance

And there's a whole lot more!! One less stressful course can be the relief you need to do well in all the others. So, go to your MySlice planner and search search search!!

Good luck in your quest for the perfect semester. It isn't easily achieved, but when it is, it's magical.

Marty the Moose- this week, the Lawrinson Community Council was awarded the stuffed animal for support on our up coming ideas. Congrats all!

Family Weekend- the amount of people who signed up was a surprisingly low number. If you’re available to work an event, you need to sign up and make sure you attend the event. The weekend could have been more successful, so we need to work as a council to make events more of a success.

Party In The USA- next week, the RHA general meeting will be held in Lawrinson. As a party of hosting the meeting, we are able to make the partied themed, the theme with be Party In The USA. The party will start at 7:30 and go until around 9 in the Penthouse. If you’ able to come to the meeting, please do so and wear red, white, and blue.

Thanksgiving Update- Two different options: 1) we would give the money we raise to the Director of the Food Bank in order to get the most food for the money we donate, essentially feeding more people. 2) we would go through Hendrick’s Chapel to sponcer a family. We can also collect cans in addition to raising money.

Halloween- Plan A (children’s party) is a no go. Instead were going to move to plan B and have a party for the residents. The party will be Friday 7:30-9 pm. The new Adam’s Family will be on TV at 8, so it will be on the TV in the lounge. We will also have a ton of activities such as mummy wraps, haunted house decorating contest, caramel and candy dipped apples, food, and lots of fun.

Family Sponsoring- Church is contacted with a number of families that we would be able to sponsor. Baskets (one per families) range from $30-40. Advertisements/more information for donations will be brought up in the beginning of November.

-Previous meeting was hectic. Meetings need to be a place for people to safely voice their ideas. Don’t put down others even if you don’t like their ideas.

- Be respectful of others thoughts. Don’t talk over other people, wait your turn.

Conference Claps

-New system where when we get off topic and start to get loud, the designated “conference clapper” of the week will call out conference clap and everyone claps together. The idea is to stay on topic and make the meetings as to the point as possible.

Snaps

-Instead of everybody talking after an idea is mentioned, were going to snap our fingers if you agree with the idea. This will eliminate chatter, keeping us on task.

Lock Your Door Campaign

-You go around to each room, knock on the door (during the day). If someone opens the door, hand him or her a pink slip (info on campaign). If nobody comes to the door you jiggle the handle (DO NOT GO IN THE ROOM), if the door is locked, put a blue slip under the door. If the door is unlocked, put a green slip under the door.

T-Shirts

-A design will be made up to put on fliers. The ideal way to go about ordering is to have people put a $5 deposit down then pay the remainder when they pick up their shirt.

Halloween

-The date may be changed for the party. New possible dates for the party will be Wednesday October 28^thor Thursday October 29th. If we can’t get the children from the local school to come, we can throw a party for the residents.

Open Forum

-Elevator Campaign- complaints about people pushing multiple numbers on the elevator. Needs to be on the radar. Vocal campaign may be the best option, if you see it happen, tell them not to do it any longer. Don’t give people a hard time for what floor they get on/off at. You don’t know why they’re taking the elevator; it could be a personal problem.

-Pink your nails pink campaign. People donate and then get their nails painted pink. More info coming.

-Family weekend: table with refreshments. Bulletin board with leave a message for your children.

Alternative Spring Break

Is going to Washington DC

This year the Alternative Spring Break group and twenty students will have the opportunity to attend a seven day trip to Washington DC to take part in service work with the hungry and homeless population. We will be participating in a four day volunteer camp with the Youth Services Opportunity Project. In addition to service work, there will also be opportunities to take in some of the sights of the DC Metro area. The total cost of the trip is $200 with all meals and activities included
The trip is open to all SU and ESF students living in on-campus housing. To be eligible for the Alternative Spring Break trip, students must attend one of the information sessions listed below and complete an application. DPS From A Resident's Perspective

After reading over the Judicial System Handbook, I realized that DPS isn't merely a system to get student's into trouble. I was hesitant to call DPS after a situation a few weeks ago and it turned for the worse. I'm writing this to inform other students who may also be hesitant to call DPS, due to the fact there may be some intimidation factor, or an unsettleing feeling about their duties to the students and the University. An event that could have been easily handled if I had called DPS, was dragged into the early hours of the night. DPS is here to guide us through these next four years, and to keep an eye on our peers whenever needed. I can admit now that I overlooked the guidance that DPS offers, and the little information I did have about DPS was not used properly in the occuring event. So, call DPS, they aren't here to bash you and drag you into a cold dark cell- they're here to help. It's disrespectful to bring these occurances into the building, handle them properly without disrupting others.

This is the week for you to get involved! Today is the beginning of election week for a variety of things in Lawrinson Hall. You can vote for Community Council Executive Board members and Building Wide Quiet hours. Voting begins at 12pm today and ends on September 23, 2009 at 10am. Election results will be out on Thursday, September 24, 2009 by 10am.
Here’s how to vote:
· Print out the attached ballot in your room or the computer cluster and bring down to the main desk, or go to the main desk to pick up a ballot
· Give the MDA your name and room number
· Fill out the ballot and hand it back in
· Remember – you are only allowed to vote once – we’re keeping track.

Community Council
The community council is a student organization that acts similarly to student government in our residence hall. They provide social programming, make capital improvements like new ping pong tables, and work to resolve any issues the hall may be having. There is still room for more VPs and other open e-board positions. If you wish to be a general body member, information will come out next week about our first meeting. Floor presidents will be voted on at your floor meetings or appointed by your RA. Please contact your RA for more information.

Upcoming Opportunities for Community Council Members
As a member of Lawrinson’s Community Council, you are invited to participate in the Homecoming Parade, which will take place on Friday, October 2, 2009 at 5:30pm. It’s a lot of fun and we’ll be creating a banner, so if you’re interested, join community council and let me know.

Another fun opportunity for Lawrinson’s Community Council members is to take part in Resident Hall Association’s (RHA) Leadership Night Live, which takes place on Saturday, September 26th. This is a great way to learn how to put on a program, and how to develop as a student leader. More information will be coming soon!

Quiet Hours
While we do live under 24 hour courtesy hours, these will be the official guidelines for Lawrinson Hall for this academic year. The times for weekdays differ from weekends. For residents of the QUIET LIFE community, these do not affect your current standards, but you may take part in the voting as residents of the building community

Flu Shot, Part 2

Second Flu Clinic for Students to Be Held Tuesday at Flanagan Gymnasium

The first seasonal flu clinic held on Friday, Sept. 11, for students had an unprecedented response, delivering close to 1,600 doses of seasonal flu vaccine to SU and SUNY-ESF students. While the supply of vaccine is now limited pending the next shipment, Syracuse University continues to be committed to immunizing as many students as possible early in the season. Therefore, Health Services will administer the remaining 400 doses of vaccine to students tomorrow, Tuesday, at Flanagan Gymnasium beginning at noon until the vaccine is gone.

Students should be sure to bring their student I.D. and wear loose clothing that allows their upper arm to be exposed.

Future clinics will be scheduled as the pre-ordered vaccine is shipped. Updates on the next clinic will come via e-mail and will be posted at http://flu.syr.edu.

Hello Everyone,

For those that have not met me, my name is Cari Urabe and I am the Residence Director of Lawrinson hall. I am coming to Syracuse University by way of Hawaii (where I grew up), and the state of Washington where I completed my Bachelors and Masters degree.

My office is in room 202, which is located on the second floor, near the No Place For Hate windows and the ping pong table. Please stop on by when you have a chance. I'd love to meet with you. I usually have a calendar up so that you know what my schedule looks like. If not, email is the best way to reach me: churabe@syr.edu.

There are a lot of great things happening in Lawrinson. We've recently purchased new pool table accessories, ping pong paddles as well as games. If you visit our main desk, you can check out a variety of games including: Twister, Monopoly, Pictionary, Scene It, Catch Phrase, Apples to Apples, Trivial Pursuit, and Taboo. There are also athletic balls, a remote control for the second floor TV, iron, and vacuums that you can borrow. You just need to have an SU ID card or Drivers License.

Hello Lawrinson residents,

We have 18 wonderful Resident Advisors (RAs) who came in August for training, which included fire safety training.

Our Lawrinson Staff also did some community service at the Delaware Academy by painting murals and covering bulletin boards at their school.

There are still many opportunities for you to get involved! Our Community Council "Goin' Up" meets Wednesday Nights at 8:30pm in the Lawrinson Penthouse. This is a group of residents that provide programs and advocacy for our residence hall.

Be sure to keep checking out all the great programs and events that are offered within our hall and throughout campus. And please use the new ping pong tables and flat screen TV on the second floor.

I'm Here! Don't Panic!

Woah, blog, you're here and I'm late! That's right, it's October and this is the second blog post, but lets get this off on the right foot.

By now everybody has moved in and adjusted, and the Freshman have pretty much figured things out, but all that means is the best stuff is still on the horizon. So, what kind of stuff do we have to look forward to in the coming weeks?

First off, if you are ever looking for something to do on the weekend, there are always cool movies in Gifford Autidorium in HBC. Next weekend they are showing Mama Mia, and the weekend after is Dark Night. There are schedules on bulletin boards and whatnot, but apparrently, UU's website is broken, so I'd link you there, but it wouldn't be much help.

Another great resource for finding things to do is the Rec Services website. They go on a lot of great trips that are avalible at extremely discounted prices for students. They do a six week Skiing and Snowboarding program that costs about $100 for transportation, lift tickets, and if you need them, rentals. They are also having apple picking on October 18th, which is a lot of fun. Also, don't forget about Tennity on south for ice skating. They are open on friday and saturday until midnight, and rentals cost all of $4 - at least that was the price last year.

As for stuff going on in Lawrinson, keep an eye out for a huge Sadler VS Lawrinson ping pong tourney sometime in mid November. It's going to be awesome!
